For the serious coffee aficionado, this will enlighten, educate and delight you as you experience the whole coffee chain in stunning scenery kicking off on a boat trip to Nyamirundi Island where you will visit the plantation of a local coffee cooperative.

Day 1 - Arrival At Kigali

Welcome to Kigali Rwanda! African Unique Safaris and Tours will graciously welcome you upon arrival at Kigali International Airport and transfer you to your hotel for check in, then take you to enjoy our evening coffee at Bourbon Coffee.

Then return to the Hotel for an overnight stay.

 

Day 2 - Transfer To The Eastern Province

Coffee exploration…

Your driver will pick you up early in the morning after breakfast then drive to the eastern province visiting the Women Twongere Umusaruro Cooperative coffee farm and washing station where you will be taken through coffee processing, then natural roasting (pots on fire)grid using a motor, and make a French Press for your taste. Perfect to have with your Rwandan local food whilst enjoying the traditional dances.

There after you will drive back to Kigali for an overnight stay!

Day 3 - Butare – Nyungwe Coffee Expendition

Let’s taste our Coffee……

After Breakfast, we have a morning drive enroute to the National Museum of Rwanda, after visiting the museum we will proceed to Huye Mountain Coffee for coffee farming experience and natural roasting on the top of the mountain while relaxing.

Then proceed to the historical rock (Nyirankoko) for a once in lifetime experience in Rwandan cultural.

Thereafter proceed to the washing station and coffee tasting, return to for lunch and then proceed to the National Coffee Laboratory at Maraba for a professional cupping experience.

Then we drive to Nyungwe for an overnight stay.

Day 4 - Tea Picking

All around you will have time to see and walk through the beautiful tea plantations. You will be introduced to the special art of tea picking, if you can do tours then this could be something to ask about.

Thereafter we will drive or walk (depending on weather) to Gisakura Tea Factory. They have got plenty of teas on offer for sampling, tasting and other tea activities all for your pleasure.

Afterwards you will be transferred to Rubavu for Dinner and overnight stay!

Day 5 - From Crop To Cup

Today is your day to taste some of Africa’s Best Gourmet Java- Bourbon Coffee along the shores of Lake Kivu – simply some of the best Arabica Beans in the world are grown here and today you will take a journey that takes you from Crop to Cup where you discover the various processes involved in preparing a cup of one of the world’s best coffees.

Your trip will begin with a boat ride from Gisenyi to Nyamirundi Island.  You get to enjoy the scenic wonders of Lake Kivu – and see the process from crop to cup first-hand.

On Nyamirundi Island you will visit the plantation of a Rwandan Cooperative called Ingoboka that in turn assists and supports many Rwandan Families to a better life via their skills in growing their full-bodied coffee that is sought after around the world. You will pick the coffee beans then proceed to the washing station at Gashashi where the coffee is washed in 20 steps.

Afterwards you are part of roasting the coffee on an open fire and finally the tasting of the coffee. Lunch in Gisenyi with Ingoboka Coffee Cooperative Representatives where you can have afternoon with them for any questions and discussion about Rwanda’s fine coffees.

Dinner and overnight stay at your Hotel.

Day 6 - Coffee Expediton With Coopac (Crop To Sack)

(Hand-picked, Wet-washed, Sun-dried, Hulling)

Very early in the morning go for a coffee experience at Coopac. This is exactly what we will go through during our visit to Coopac whereby you will be taken through the four stages of the coffee bean until the coffee is in the sack ready to be exported!

This is another great experience whereby we get to know coffee right away from the crop. And finally the professional cupping in the laboratory before returning to the lodge for lunch.

Then drive to Kigali for dinner and overnight stay!

Day 7 - City Tour And Departure

This morning we have a city tour, including a visit to Gisozi Genocide Memorial Centre and other cultural souvenir sites. In the afternoon you are be transferred to Kanombe Airport for Departure.
